Terrorism is the brutal and cruel action provoked by the human character of extremism and radicalism. As briefed by the former Chief of BNPT which was replaced by Police General Tito Karnavian, this kind of attitude is analyzed to grow as human character influenced by eight deep feeling, namely the extreme ideology, the in justice feeling, the hatred feeling, the discrimination feeling, the will to revenge, the extreme social and economic gap, the poor life and non democratic policy.

An information was released by Fairfax Media in Australia saying a document that was said as leaking BIN document is now circulating among the Australian media. The document is containing the basic information of a number of respected figures in Papua, concerning their intellectual capability and also their weaknesses such as to drink alcohol, woman and money. The names mentioned in the document are among others Marcus Haluk (intellectual), Beny Dimara (social) and Benny Giay (religion).

The House of Representatives has formed a special team to monitor the work of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). Elnino MH Mohi, a member of House Commission I, which oversees defense and foreign affairs, said the monitoring team was expected to help Indonesian intelligence gathering by taking stock of the issues faced by BIN. A book entitled Japanese Militarism and Its War Crimes in Asia Pacific Region (Hendrajit, ed) was recently sent to me, by the publisher, The Global Future Institute. No doubt, this book made me re-think and recollect my trip to Japan in 1996. At that time, I was warmly received by Japanese families who became my host, invited to travel to various places, and bought souvenirs. The psycological effect of my short visit is that it is hard to imagine that the Japanese people were cruel ones, perpetrators of the massacre of our ancestors, raping Indonesian girls, making them as prostitutes and enslaving our grandfathers to work on various projects. |
